We at the House of Guitars are proud of our history supporting and being supported by the Rochester Music Scene.  In celebration of this honor we present the first annual H.O.G.Fest 2012.

MoChester is a 4-piece rock/pop driven band from Rochester, NY. The band's name is actually a fusion of the city it started in and Motown, one of its original influences. While the Motown groove provided early inspiration for the group, their current sound has a mainstream flair that has been compared to a blend of O.A.R. and Incubus, with a west coast swagger reminiscent of The Dirty Heads and Sublime. Their arsenal of original material stretches across numerous genres, from the pop-flavored anthem “Crackerjack Tattoos”, to the reggae-infused jam “Lost and Found”.

The Deep Blue Dream is a dynamic fusion of five extremely talented musicians. Driven by the soulful pipes of Lauren Faggiano, the band encompasses a variety of styles ranging from blues, rock, jazz, funk, and soul. Formed in 2006 the band created an immediate synthesis, starting from Ken's solid bass foundation, to JP's dynamic beats, Alex's hot blues licks, Faith's beautifully interwoven sax lines, right up to Lauren's percussive keys and fiery vocals. And, following JP's departure to tour with some other musical friends, we've recently welcomed our newest member Joe to bring some funky drums to the mix.

I've been singing all my born days & playing guitar ( & a smidgen of piano ) since I was 11yrs young. I teach all age groups since around 1980 ( I first started at the great great House of Guitars in Rochester , NY ) . I'm a former student of the late great Richard "Dick" Longale. However I'm also in to organic gardening, art ( I was an Art major in college & taught for a short while ), film & tv ( started a cable access show called "GreenLine" 6 yrs or so ago & made a few short documentaries on video.google) . I love science, metaphysics for decades, politics ( former GREEN PARTY co-chair & subscribed to Mother Jones magazine since around 1972 :), psychology, organic nutrition & general health topics ( colitis survivor for decades since 1983 ) kids- taught them for decades & have raised 2 beautiful ones ( VP PTSA ), & have taught Okinawan martial arts since 1978 ( students from 4 to 70yrs old ). I also believe in free speech & the science that proves that certain sounds affect very particular nerve endings in our chochlea which touch our nervous system in ways that cause us to feel certain emotions. SO, that being said, lets keep it positive , civil & if you're angry about something , which most of us have great reason to be these days, please express it in a way that will spur positive healing & action! I'm in to learning. Let's help disseminate useful stuff here as well to help us all improve our quality of life in these trying times.

Violet Mary formed in 2007 with one purpose: to rock with profundity. Steeped in british blues, 70s rock, Motown and modern pop, the members of Violet Mary careen their creative visions into a collision of sound and substance; a technicolor display of pure musical passion and sonic intensity. The byproduct of such controlled chaos is nothing short of breathtaking, each line weaving among the other… each rhythm finding the depth of the pocket.

In 2009, Violet Mary released their first record entitled Marionette. The album was received critical acclaim both in print and on-air, and is featured in rotation on WBER, WBZE, and WZNE.

Violet Mary released their sophomore album, After the Plunge on November 13, 2010. The 11-track record captures the band refining their arrangements and exploring the recording studio to create a spacious, thoughtful and grand soundscape. The band continues to proudly tip its hat to Led Zeppelin on After the Plunge, and expands upon it, introducing elements of progressive rock in “Leviathan”, power-pop in “Canada”, Queen-esque vocals on “Long Dark Night” and even a dash of dixieland on “Sweet Tea”.
