Vintage Style and Traditional Specs
Originally a student model, the Mustang is a beloved member of the Fender offset family. Over the years, it’s been played on tracks from Zappa to Nirvana, from the Chili Peppers to The 1975 and beyond. The Fender Vintera ’60s Mustang pays homage to the generations of mustangs that came before it with its vintage-style switching, vintage-style tremolo, pearloid pickguard, and traditional headstock. Here we love the Tim Shaw–designed ’60s pickups that give you the classic sparkling midrange and just enough of the low-end bite. Complete with period-correct finishes, the Fender Vintera ’60s Mustang solidbody electric guitar will be your go-to axe for grunge, alternative, rock, and beyond.
Offset body with great tonewoods
The Fender Vintera ’60s Mustang follows the traditional pattern of an alder body complete with maple neck. The ’60s C-shaped neck carve is period correct, feels great in your hand, and is well suited to any playing style. The maple neck’s bright tone is mellowed by the resonant, snappy sound of the pau ferro fingerboard, and the fingerboard’s old-school 7.25″ radius is fitted with vintage-style frets that are unlike anything you’ve ever played before.
’60s-style pickups and switching
The revoiced ’60s pickups in the Vintera ’60s Mustang are inspired by instruments from the era and capture the quintessential tones of the ’60s. The dual pickups feature period-correct plain enamel wire and staggered Alnico V magnets. What makes this instrument unique is the Mustang’s traditional slider switching system. With the pickup switches, you have access to four unique sounds: neck pickup only, bridge pickup only, both pickups in phase, and both pickups out of phase. The tonal options are increased by the master tone and volume knobs.
Staying true to its roots
The Fender Vintera ’60s Mustang is all about tradition. This instrument lives up to tradition in a big way, featuring the appointments that players around the world love. You’ll notice that the headstock has a ’60s-style logo and plastic buttons on the tuning keys. The pearloid pickguard has the vintage-style pickup selecting switches and knobs. Even the vintage-style tremolo bridge stays true to form with the plastic tip and smooth action.
