Description

The Hummingbird Studio Rosewood brings Gibson’s legendary square-shoulder acoustic guitar into the 21st century with top-shelf construction, world-class electronics, and subtle modern enhancements. Its Sitka spruce top offers a clear tone and powerful projection that’s embellished by the warm, round sound of its rosewood back and sides. Experience sublime playability, thanks to this Hummingbird’s comfortable Advanced Response neck and rolled fingerboard edges. We know you’ll love the Gibson Acoustic Hummingbird Studio Rosewood. The legend continues.

Dressed up dreadnought style

Gibson’s first square-shoulder body shape, the Gibson Hummingbird brought a subtle new body style and a bold new look to Gibson’s dreadnought family. To emphasize the importance of the new model, Gibson outfitted the Hummingbird with such eye-catching features as mother-of-pearl Parallelogram fingerboard inlays, and multi-ply top binding. These appointments are translated perfectly on today’s Hummingbird Studio Rosewood, along with tasteful modern style enhancements that include a curvacious faux tortoise pickguard.

Quality construction

As discriminating guitarists immediately discovered, underneath the Hummingbird’s flashy ornamentation is an amazing acoustic guitar. This incarnation of the Hummingbird brings you the same square shoulder design, with a solid Sitka spruce top and rosewood back and sides. These tonewoods come together to give the Hummingbird a sweet, warm tonality that sits well in countless musical situations.

Hand-scalloped top bracing delivers exceptional tone

Another feature of the Hummingbird Studio Rosewood is Gibson’s weight-relieved hand-scalloped top bracing, which provides strength while allowing the top to vibrate with a piston-like action, which is another one of Gibson’s secrets to exceptional tone. For over 100 years, the Gibson artisans have known the truth that the top of an instrument is not just a vibrating wall. Gibson carefully scallops and arches each top brace to focus the sound to the center of the guitar top. This technique is one of the reasons why artists, sound engineers, and listeners have acclaimed the sound of a Gibson as among the world’s finest.

Hit the stage with LR Baggs Element Bronze electronics

The Hummingbird Studio Rosewood comes equipped with LR Baggs Element Bronze electronics that are ready for you to hit the stage or plug into your computer for easy recording. By using an ultra-fine sensing element, Element Bronze retains the nuances of your playing and the natural tone of the Hummingbird Studio Rosewood better than comparable systems. Its flexibility enhances responsiveness towards bending and vibrations without being tainted by pressure, leading to better tracking and an overall more enjoyable playing experience. And with generations of high-end circuit design in LR Baggs’ résumé, you can rest assured that your first chord will sound just as good as the last with Element Bronze electronics.

Nitrocellulose lacquer finish, for sound that improves with age

Gibson Montana uses nitrocellulose lacquer finish on all their acoustics for a reason. The lacquer finish is thinner than polyurethane, which allows the wood to vibrate more freely for better tone and projection. Also, since a lacquer finish is porous, it allows the wood to “breathe.” Thanks to the lacquer finish, as your Hummingbird Studio Rosewood ages, its sound actually improves — just like the great violins of the 18th century (Stradivarius, Guanerius, etc.). The Hummingbird Studio Rosewood is at once a collector’s dream, a working musician’s axe, and a treasured family heirloom.

Classic Gibson craftsmanship yields impeccable sound, looks, and playability

Gibson’s reputation as a fine guitar builder dates back to the late 1800s. Handcrafted since day one by some of the most skilled luthiers around, Gibson acoustic guitars have inspired countless players around the world. When you pick up a Gibson acoustic, you know you’re getting the finest tonewoods, quality hardware, and incredible attention to detail. These instruments are built to sound great and stand the test of time. After moving from Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Nashville, Tennessee (where Gibson electric guitars continue to be made), Gibson finally settled their acoustic operation in Bozeman, Montana, where they continue to handcraft some of the finest guitars on the planet.
