A Highly Coveted Non-reverse Firebird 12-string

Soar with the Gibson Custom Firebird V-12, a meticulous re-creation of the company’s highly collectible 1965 non-reverse model. This 12-string electric guitar remains faithful to the guitar that inspired it, boasting a radically sculpted mahogany body and set-neck construction. That said, it includes a greater nut width for easier playability, as many players found the original ’65 Firebird’s slimmer neck cumbersome to navigate. The 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V-12 is chock-full of ear-grabbing sparkle, jangle, and chime, courtesy of a set of Alnico V-loaded Firebird humbuckers, which are bolstered by a handwired harness with CTS potentiometers and Bumblebee capacitors. You also get a choice selection of hardware, which includes an ABR-1 bridge, a 12-string claw tailpiece, and Kluson six-on-a-side tuners. Finally, this guitar offers off-the-charts visual appeal, thanks to a mother-of-pearl diamond headstock inlay, an Oldsmobile-inspired color palate, and a VOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish. A re-creation of a legend

The 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V-12 is a re-creation of (what was considered) a radical design in the early 1960s. Created by legendary automotive designer (and visionary) Ray Dietrich, the original Firebirds literally reversed conventional concepts for guitar bodies and headstocks. You can bet heads turned when any guitar player took to the stage with one of these unusual instruments strapped on. Today, the 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V-12 gives you the experience of strapping on a 1965 original, and all eyes will be on you!

Alnico-fueled Firebird tone

Vintage Firebirds are prized for their treble- and midrange-heavy tone, and the Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V-12’s Alnico V-loaded humbuckers deliver that sonic palette in spades. These pickups feature two rail-style magnets, one in the center of each bobbin, that pick up the string vibrations more fully than traditional pole pieces. Fewer windings also deliver a pickup with a lower output and a snappier, brighter tone. Your leads will pop with some serious punch as notes and bends ring out with sonic clarity and heft. In addition, two volume and two tone controls, which are fortified by 500K CTS potentiometers and Bumblebee capacitors, let you make those subtle tweaks to your tone quickly and easily.

Updated neck for incredible feel

The 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V-12’s mahogany neck has been cut into a comfortable traditional 1960s SlimTaper profile — a favorite among Gibson aficionados. This classic profile offers incredible comfort for your neck hand, and with the deep cutaway and offset design, you get killer access to those highest notes up the neck. This guitar’s 22-fret Indian rosewood fingerboard offers easy fretting all along its neck, and, unlike the original 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V-12, this modern re-imagining brandishes a wider nut for easier playability.
