We’re excited to offer the Vox Spitfire guitar, featured in the 1966 “Vox: It’s What’s Happening – Beatles Cover” and the 1967 “Vox: It’s What’s Happening – Raiders Cover” catalogs. You can find reprints of these catalogs at North Coast Music. The Spitfire boasts a solid body and three pickups, with a design reminiscent of a diagonally stretched Fender Stratocaster.

According to the 1966 US Vox catalog, the Spitfire includes a contoured body, a quick 3-position pickup switch, three pickups, a rosewood fingerboard, true spring action vibrato, an adjustable master bridge channel, six individual string bridges, and comes in sunburst or other popular colors, along with a 2-way string damper.

In 1966, the retail price of the Spitfire was $249.90 USD, including a case. Adjusted for inflation over fifty years, that would be roughly $1699 today.

The Spitfire was crafted for Vox in Italy by Eko, with a decal on the back of the headstock indicating: “Made by Vox in Italy.”
